What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a safe and effective treatment steeped in tradition which has been passed down through the ages and practiced by many different cultures. Simply put, Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses the feet to treat the whole body.
Reflexology is based on the theory that the systems of the body, glands, organs and body parts are mapped out on the feet, these points are know as reflex points. Through gentle pressure and skillful techniques a Reflexologist can help release blocked energies and rebalance the body’s systems. Reflexology helps to induce deep relaxation and in turn aids the body’s own healing process.

What to expect
A Reflexology treatment is usually between 45 – 60 minutes, with the initial treatment longer due to a full consultation, this allows for the treatment to be tailored to your specific needs. The client will be asked to remove their socks and shoes and will be placed on the plint lying down. A reading of the feet will take place, this is to check for any contraindications and to see the general condition of the feet. The treatment will involve pressure on the feet using skillful techniques. Generally the treatment will be soothing and calming. You may feel some discomfort on reflex areas, this can indicate an imbalance in the body. The treatment will conclude with a foot massage.
Any on going, long term health problem may require anything from 6- 8 sessions, this will be reviewed during the course of your treatment. Once your body has regained balance it is recommended to have an occasional treatment to help maintain your wellbeing.
