Doula Support

“Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t only give your care, but give your heart as well.”

– Mother Teresa

Welcome to the Doula section of Soma Wellness and Birth. I am delighted to be offering this valuable and empowering service to women in Kerry, Cork and Limerick.

A Birth Doula is defined as a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

For me, the role of a doula goes much deeper, we all have our own desires, hopes and expectations of pregnancy and birth. As a doula I am there to honour and support women to explore and navigate her own pregnancy and birth story.

I am a registered member of the Doula Association of Ireland  (DAI) which is a voluntary, not-for-profit membership organisation that is bound by a common code of ethics and I am currently in the process of gaining my Garda clearance certification through DAI. I trained with DONA International.

Choosing your Doula:

It is always an honour and a privilege to be invited into a woman’s birthing space, this is such an intimate, empowering , but also vulnerable time, it is so important that you are 100% comfortable and confident with who you ask to be your support team on the day.

Before we decide to work together, we will meet for an initial meeting, where we get to know each other and I can answer any questions that you may have. This meeting is really just to make sure that we click and that we are both happy to work with each other.

If you are happy to have me as your doula, I will get you booked in, get the paper work done, book the first antenatal session and block off my calendar for the on call period from 37 weeks of pregnancy to when baby arrives.

If you would like to connect with me and find out how I can support you during your pregnancy and birth please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
