“Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t only give your care, but give your heart as well.”
– Mother Teresa
Welcome to the Birth section of Soma Wellness and Birth.
A Birth Doula is defined as a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
But, for me, the role of a doula goes much deeper, it is rooted in holding space, honouring that the birthing woman is the power and the leader and as a Doula I am there to support you, physically, emotionally, spiritually. We all have our own desires, hopes and expectations of pregnancy and birth. As a doula I am there to honour and support women to explore and navigate her own pregnancy and birth story, to walk with you as you find your power to birth your baby.
I am an Independent Birth Doula registered as a member of the Doula Association of Ireland (DAI) which is a voluntary, not-for-profit membership organisation that is bound by a common code of ethics. I have obtained Garda clearance certification through DAI.
Choosing your Doula:
It is always an honour and a privilege to be invited on the journey into motherhood with a woman and to be invited into a woman’s birthing space, this is such a sacred and intimate time, it is so important that you are 100% comfortable and confident with who you ask to be your support team on the day.
Before we decide to work together, we will meet for an initial meeting, where we get to know each other and I can answer any questions that you may have. This meeting is really just to make sure that we click and that we are both happy to work with each other.
If you are happy to have me as your doula, I will get you booked in, get the paper work done, book the first antenatal session and block off my calendar for the on call period from 37 weeks of pregnancy to when baby arrives.
If you would like to connect with me and find out how I can support you during your pregnancy and birth please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
