Hello, My name is Anita, I am the face behind Soma Wellness and Birth.
In my personal life I am a mom to 2 beautiful and energetic children and wife to the lovely John. I enjoy the outdoors and getting to the beach or Kerry mountains when we can. More recently, I have a new found love and respect for growing your own vegetables and fruit and getting our children involved.
Since I was 16 years old, I had this dream or vision to be self employed in the area of complementary health therapies.
I have always had a deep interest in health and wellness, In 2009, I graduated From IT Tralee with a B.Sc Hons Degree in Health, Fitness and Leisure Studies. It wasn’t until 2014, that I took a leap of faith and went back to full time education to study Complementary Health Therapies, where I trained and qualified in different modalities, from Holistic Massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Ear Candling, Hot Stone Massage and Massage with pre-blended essential oils.
From the onset my interest was naturally gravitating towards working with women. It was after the birth of our daughter in 2016 that I became interested in further training in Maternity Reflexology and Pregnancy Massage, this naturally lead me in the direction of becoming a certified GentleBirth Instructor and Doula.
It has been an amazing rollercoaster of a journey, setting up as a small business and balancing self employed life with family life.
I continue to soak up knowledge and experience around women’s health, fertility, pregnancy and birth. I see my journey as never ending, always learning, deepening and expanding my knowledge, as I grow in confidence to speak my own truth and be authentic in the work that I do and with the people I support.
